PRODUCT TEMPLATES EXPLAINED

Overview of the components and options that can be used when creating a customisable product template

  • Product Template – this can be 2D or 3D and made up of any number of product views or pages
  • Product View – views & aspects can be used for the same things and each view can have multiple print areas – although normally they are a one to one relationship
  • Aspect / Texture – an aspect is used when you want to use an image to represent a product rather than a solid colour – textures are the same thing but for 3D products
  • Masks – a mask is used to define the shape of an area if not square / rectangular both online and in print ready artwork
  • Colour Area – by default the colour area is the same as the print area
  • Colour Area Mask – a colour area does not always have to be the same as a print area and can be defined as any area of the product
  • Print Area – as the name suggests this is the artwork area – normally one per view but does not have to be
  • Print Area Layout – this is used if a product has multiple print areas and the areas need printing in a specific way – these are not visible online
  • Print Ready Artwork – if a product needs better quality artwork for production this can be uploaded and automatically converted to a product view for online personalisation
  • Image Area – within the print area you can have any number of image areas. Alternatively for a customisable product the image area can be the same as the print area or for some apps not needed (can support unlimited image areas)
  • Regions – are areas within a print area where you can replicate part of the image – eg mirrored edges on canvases
  • Text Area – within the print area you can also have unlimited text areas. Alternatively for a customisable product the text area can be the same as the print area or for some apps not needed (can support unlimited text areas)
  • Print Sizes – the ability to create different size artwork from the same template
  • External Surfaces – are areas within a print area where you can add another dynamic customisable area – a product within a product
